Chapter Kickoff Meeting and Volunteer Event at LARMH

Saturday, March 18th

By Chapter President Philip Rebentisch

HOW HARD WAS YOUR DAY TODAY?

The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House is a refuge for families whose children are undergoing treatment for acute medical conditions at nearby hospitals. “The House” provides free, hotel quality living accommodations, meals, and laundry for the families who are dealing with unimaginable stress and emotions. Having a hard day takes on a whole new meaning, and for the families and the patients, the House provides a bit of normalcy. They also provide kid-friendly events and activities that are part of the beauty that is the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House.

WHY ARE WE INVOLVED?

Our special relationship with the House began at last year’s Walk for Kids when Immediate Past President Ece Klippsten, her family, and AMA members took part. Ece then introduced me to the Executive Director, Julie Brooks. When I became president, we formed an official relationship for our chapter to provide pro bono marketing advice and community service. Our team, led by VP of Community Outreach, Christi Turner, has done a wonderful job. But we’re not done.

The Walk is their largest fundraising event of the year and it is desperately needed for their financial wellbeing.  The chapter needs your help to achieve the LARMH fundraising goal of $300,000.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Join our Team AMAzing that is participating in the Walk. We also hope you encourage your friends and family to join as well. Event day features a scenic 5K course for participants, live music and entertainment, a Walker Village with booths filled with food and giveaways from various businesses, and the popular Kid’s Zone featuring fun interactive games!

The Walk takes place at Exposition Park, 700 Exposition Park Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90037 on April 2, 2017. Registration opens at 7 a.m. Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:15 a.m. The Walk starts at 9:00 a.m.
