Executive Committee

This team is responsible for creating and deploying the strategic vision of the chapter with the long-term financial health and reputation of the chapter as the team’s top priorities.

President-Elect Job Description 

The President-Elect’s primary role is to assist the President and prepare for the upcoming year.  Under guidance from the President, the President-Elect will become familiar with the processes and procedures required to run the chapter. 

The President-Elect is also expected to perform all the duties specified by the Constitution and Bylaws or those approved by the Board of Directors.

Required

  • Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week.
  • Report To: President

Responsibilities

  • Attend the AMA Leadership Summit immediately preceding term.
  • Oversee volunteer management and volunteer appreciation.
  • In partnership with the President, oversee, guide, and support VP positions and committees.
  • Work with Sponsorship chair to build long-term sponsor relations.
  • Head nominating committee for the next Board year.
  • Plan the July Board Retreat to kick-off the next chapter year.
  • Work with President to collect and compile information for Chapter Excellence Awards submission.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the President in his or her absence or inability to serve.
  •  Identify and prepare a volunteer to fill this role the following year.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and management of the board via recruitment, retention, and team engagement
  • Responsibilities common to all Officers and Directors.
  • Contribute any other reasonable responsibility, under the direction of the President and within the job’s time commitment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful track record of building and leading a team. 

Head of Finance

The VP of Finance & Legal is expected to perform all the duties specified by the Constitution and Bylaws or those approved by the Board of Directors. Additionally, the VP should refer to the “Chapter Operations and AMA Policies – Financial Responsibility and Control” section of the COG for details regarding AMA’s financial philosophy and operating procedures.

  • Time commitment: 4 – 8 hours per week
  • Report to: President

Responsibilities

  • Submit monthly and annual financial reports as required by AMA SC.
  • Maintain financial records and file tax return.
  •  Lead financial planning initiatives throughout the AMA Los Angeles board and be the sounding voice of reason for all financial decisions.
  • Work with the Executive Secretary on any legal matters that need to occur such as taxes and other associated forms and procedures. This is a great transition role to President-Elect or VP of Operations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High-level organizational skills.
  • Preferred two years financial, accounting, or budgeting strategy experience.
